Is Jeremy Hunt beaten in advance?

Jeremy Hunt the number two contender in the fight to become the next British Prime Minister seems, well, beaten in advance.

Not that he has given up the fight or did not fight enough, but against Boris Johnson, he has little avenues for success.

And now he has almost conceded defeat, saying « it will be a great honor serving Boris », which is interpreted as a wish to preserve his post as foreign affairs minister under Boris.

Hunt is a British Conservative Party politician serving as Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs since 2018, and has served as Member of Parliament (MP) for South West Surrey since 2005.

Yesterday, the two men held their final televised event in front of Conservative Party members who will decide the winner.

Johnson, the strong front-runner repeated his vow to take Britain out of the European, drew applause and cheers with a speech.

Conservative members have until Monday to vote by postal ballot. Bookies gives Johnson the winner. Most pollsters believe Hunt is a weaker challenger.

The winner will be announced Tuesday and will replace May as party leader and prime minister.

Hunt’s loss will make him another victim of the Brexit saga. Prime Minister Theresa May is forced out of office because of the failure to get a deal through the Parliament.
