Muhyiddin secures the full support of BN-Umno

Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin has secured the full cooperation and support from the Barisan Nasional and Umno in Parliament.

In a letter dated today and published on Facebook, Umno’s leader Ahmad Zahid Hamidi says Muhyiddin has the support of the BN on the Budget 2021.

He also says BN will support all efforts by the government to pass any laws.

But he seems to put two requests for the support. It is not known what happens if Muhyiddin rejects the two options he listed in the letter to the PM.

The two ‘requests’ are as follows:

  1. The government should consider extending the bank moratorium for a 6 months period.
  2. The government should approve the withdrawal of money from the EPF Account 1.

Here is the letter in full, translated from Malay:

I have sent a letter to YAB Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin to reveal the following:

2. Barisan Nasional MPs also agreed that the Most Honorable Tan Sri consider: i) Extend the MORATORY PERIOD for a period of 6 months or part of it for those who qualify under the B40 and M40 groups; and
