PETALING JAYA: The health ministry has reported 3,332 Covid-19 cases and 15 deaths in the past 24 hours.
This is the second consecutive day the country’s daily cases have breached the 3,000 mark.
Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said there were 1,943 recoveries, bringing the total number of those discharged to 375,340.
In a statement, Noor Hisham said the total number of infections now stands at 404,925.
There are 28,093 active cases, with 309 patients being treated in intensive care and 147 requiring respiratory assistance.
Meanwhile, the 15 deaths take the number of fatalities to 1,492.
Selangor recorded the highest number of cases with 1,083. This was followed by Sarawak (522), Kelantan (401), Kuala Lumpur (359), Johor (207), Penang (158), Sabah (131), Negeri Sembilan (111), Kedah (105), Pahang (92), Perak (91), Melaka (43), Terengganu (19), Putrajaya (9) and Perlis (1).
Labuan recorded no new cases.
The new cases today involved 3,323 local infections and nine imported cases. Local cases comprised 3,099 Malaysians and 224 foreigners.
There were 45 cases from prisons and detention centres today, namely the Lenggeng DTI (43) and Tembok Pengkalan Chepa (2) clusters.
The 15 deaths today involved 14 Malaysians, aged between 26 and 91. All but three had existing medical conditions.
